Cadence Theatre Company in partnership with Virginia Rep Announces The Pillowman Cast and Production Team

Cadence Theatre Company in partnership with Virginia Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the cast of Martin McDonagh’s hit black comedy, The Pillowman. The Pillowman will be directed by Steve Perigard and will feature the talents of Eric Brenner (The Boy), David Bridgewater (Tupolski), Jonathan Conyers (Katurian), Tony Foley (Ariel), Matt Hackman (The Man), David Janeski (Michal), Emma Mason (The Woman) and Sophie Shannon (The Girl).

The creative and design team will include Brian Barker (Scenic Design), K. Jenna Ferree (Lighting Design), Michael Mauren (Lighting Assistant), Holly Sullivan (Costume Design), Adam Dorland (Scenic Artist), Kevin Johnson (Properties Design) and Aaron Orensky (Fight Choreography).

The Pillowman’s production team will include Melissa Rayford (Stage Management) and Matthew Landwehr (Production Management and Technical Directon).

With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, McDonagh’s dark comedy, The Pillowman centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the content of his short stories. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.

“A complex tale about life and art, about fact and illusion, about politics, society, cruelty and creativity.” —Financial Times
